Indian startup promoting “hands-on learning” in K-12 education – MakersLoft is intending to incite children’s curiosity about their culture and heritage. The organisation seeks to present an Indian alternative in the “building blocks” category in the toy industry with a range of block toys (Indic Bricks) that are inspired by Indian mythology and architecture, the first of which is a Ganesha statue.
As per a news article – Indic Bricks has sold around 100 units to customers from India and abroad (USA, UK, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia), since its launch. The STEM education company is now aspiring to introduce – block toys based on – Kailasha temple, Bal Krishna, Hanuman, Ramayana storytelling set, and a few Indian monuments as well.
The founder of the company Meghna Bhutoria informed that it took around six months to come up with the Ganesha statue block toy owing to organic shapes like circles, ovals found in the religious figures as compared to the usual square and rectangular pieces usually present in block toys.
In the future, the company will strive to develop and present archetypes of typical Indian architectural styles such as – Dravidian and Nagara styles of architecture.
