Godrej has exited from the baby care product space by selling ‘Snuggy’ to Nobel Hygiene

The sole baby care product of Godrej Consumer Products Pvt. Ltd. (GCPL), i.e. Snuggy has been sold to Nobel Hygiene Products and thus, Godrej has now retreated from the domain of baby care market. The amount of the deal has not been declared in the public.
Godrej had forayed into the baby care product market fifteen years ago, as it had purchased ‘Snuggy’ product range from Shogun Baby Diapers in the year 2003 which was one of the leading company in the Indian Baby Diaper Industry, particularly in South India.
In India, the scale of the Baby Hygiene Industries is proliferating and is currently around Rs. 5500 Crores, and the multinational mega corporation Proctor & Gamble almost acts as a monopoly of almost half of the market with its product- Pampers and is followed by Mamy Poko Pants by Unicharm. Established in 1897, the Godrej group having revenue of over USD 4.1 billion had its main centre of attention towards other higher margin and innovative products in the section of Household, Personal Wash and Hair Care.
