Shilpa Shetty Kundra has invested a Rs. 1.6 crores (USD 250,000) in mother and baby care consumer startup MamaEarth, which was founded in the year 2016 by husband and wife duo, Varun and Ghazal Alagh. She is now the brand ambassador as well as the equity investor of this Asia’s first MadeSafe certified brand whose chief objective is to manufacture toxin-free and hypoallergenic baby care product range in India.
This investment would give MamaEarth a great horizon to expand its products, to grow the awareness about this brand nationally as well as to extend its offline visibility. The Startup has been financially backed by Fireside Ventures which is a consumer- focused venture capital firm. It has over 35 products in the baby personal care section and it also sells pre- natal and post- natal care products for mothers.
As MamaEarth has sold around 2,00,000 products this year, it is now seeking to set up a goal to achieve a three times growth in the forthcoming year. The outlets of MamaEarth are located in leading metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru and its products are also available on its website and on online shopping websites like Amazon, Flipkart, FirstCry and Nykaa.
