Intending to curb the plastic footprint, the partnership aims to recycle the low value plastic (LVP) waste.

The Moms Co. has joined hands with rePurpose Global as an important step towards reducing the ill-effects of plastic from the environment while empowering waste workers across India. The maternity and baby care brand will work in close association with rePurpose to enable its customers to voluntarily offset the plastic consumption associated with their online purchases, delivering for them a 100% PlasticNeutral experience.
The Moms Co. has always worked with the philosophy of keeping Nature in, Toxins out and this reflects in their range of products which are Australian-Certified Toxin-Free™ & Made Safe™ and Australian Allergy Certified™. The Moms Co. is now employing this philosophy to their packaging as well by ensuring that the best of their products reach their customers without compromising on their commitment to the environment. By empowering customers to choose responsible consumption practices and managing the plastic waste generated through the product packaging, The Moms Co. is realising their commitment to the environment.
Early on in their journey, The Moms Co. switched to using recyclable plastic material for all their products, an important first step in the fight against plastic pollution. However, the ongoing dialogue on reducing plastic consumption made the team feel that they must create new avenues through which consumers can offset the often unavoidable plastic content of the product packaging every time they make a purchase.
The Moms Co. in association with rePurpose Global is implementing the first-of-its-kind solution on their website through which consumers can contribute Re. 1 per purchase towards offsetting the plastic footprint. Furthermore, The Moms Co. will match the customer contribution, thereby sending out a strong message in their fight against plastic pollution and demonstrating joint responsibility to address this monumental environmental challenge, making it the first mom and baby care brand in India to go plastic neutral. The contribution will enable rePurpose Global to facilitate collection and ethical recycling of low value, single-use plastics at vetted environmental organizations in India.
Ms Malika Sadani, Founder and CEO, The Moms Co., said: “We understand our responsibility towards creating a cleaner and greener environment for the babies and are very conscious of our plastic consumption. We have brought in experts from India, Australia and Switzerland to help us create the safest natural formulations that are certified toxin-free for babies, moms and moms-to-be. Our products are packed in recyclable plastic because of the lack of other feasible options to ensure the quality is not compromised. However, we’re always looking for ways to reduce, reuse and recycle our plastic waste so that we can offset its impact on the environment. Keeping this in mind, we have partnered with rePurpose Global to offset the unavoidable plastic associated with the purchase. These contributions, in turn, will allow rePurpose to recycle an equivalent amount of plastic to that in the orders while providing stable livelihoods and fair wages to marginalized women.”
“At The Moms Co., we go to great lengths to create products that are safe and now by partnering with rePurpose, we are taking our mission a step further by contributing towards recycling the low-value plastic waste. Through this opportunity, we are the first mom and baby care brand in India that is empowering waste management workers by creating upward mobility opportunities for them.”, stated Ms Sadani
rePurpose and The Moms Co. are also in discussions to develop a closed-loop model next year that shall entail recovery, recycling and reuse of post-consumer plastic waste generated through the use of The Moms Co. products.
rePurpose is the social enterprise dedicated to creating a global movement of conscious consumers and sustainable brands working to keep plastics away from our oceans and landfills by empowering waste workers worldwide.
