Reliance Brands has acquired the distribution rights beating FirstCry.com in the race

The fashion retail unit of Reliance Industries Limited, i.e. Reliance Brands has acquired the distribution rights of Mothercare run by DLF Brands in India. This report has come out by the Economic Times which has cited three anonymous sources. Mothercare is a leading international brand which had entered the Indian market with DLF Brands back in the year 2009. Mothercare has been an iconic UK-based retail brand that focuses on the products for children and for expectant mothers.
Reliance Brands has acquired the distribution rights beating FirstCry.com in the race. The Indian Market especially in the section of kids and baby care is snowballing, i.e. expanding at a very good rate, now stands at having worth around USD 11.12 billion and is supposedly growing at the rate of 17% CAGR that is according to a report by ASSOCHAM.
L Catterton Asia’s 40% stake was also successfully acquired by Reliance Brands in Genesis Luxury, that meant the company had rights over some leading brand names like Burberry, Canali, Paul Smith, Armani, Just Cavalli, Jimmy Choo and so on.
After this deal, Reliance would have proprietorship over all the Mothercare outlets currently under the control of DLF Brands. Reliance Brands has the distribution rights of international labels like Diesel, Hamleys, Bally Kenneth Cole, Thomas Pink, Brooks Brothers, Super Dry and Steve Madden in the Indian Market.
