Mattel Inc. and Universal Pictures has announced its plans to develop a live-action motion feature film – “Wishbone”, that is based on the hit television series from the nineties about the iconic Jack Russell terrier. It is slated to be the first theatrical film collaboration between Mattel Films and Universal Pictures and the ninth Mattel Films project in development.
The theatrical film division of the iconic toy producing company- Mattel Films will produce “Wishbone” in association with Academy Award-winner Peter Farrelly (known for films like – “Green Book,” “There’s Something About Mary”). Roy Parker (2019 The Black List’s “The House is Not for Sale”) will write the script of the movie. Robbie Brenner, executive producer, and Kevin McKeon, supervising producer, will lead the project for Mattel Films, and Lexi Barta, director of development, will oversee the project for Universal Pictures.

“Wishbone” joins other Mattel Films projects in development including ones based on American Girl®, Barbie®, Barney®, Hot Wheels®, Magic 8 Ball®, Major Matt Mason®, Masters of the Universe® and View Master®.
