Mattel Films and Blumhouse Productions teams up to bring ‘Magic 8 Ball’ Movie

With this collaboration, they will release a live-action feature film based on the Magic 8 Ball toy.

Mattel has partnered with Blumhouse Productions whose films have grossed more than USD 3 billion at the worldwide box office, to bring ‘Magic 8 Ball’ movie on screen. The film will be directed by Jeff Wadlow, whose previous work includes Kick-Ass 2 and Truth or Dare. He will write the script with Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach.
Mattel, the esteemed toys brand had announced the creation of Mattel Films- a new division of the brand focused on developing and producing motion pictures based on Mattel’s globally-recognized franchises, in September last year, with Academy Award-nominated producer Robbie Brenner spearheading Mattel Films as Executive Producer.

Blumhouse Productions is an American film and television production company, founded by Jason Blum. It is known mainly for producing horror films such as Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Get Out, Us, Insidious, Split, Happy Death Day, Upgrade, Sinister, Halloween, and The Gift. Whereas Mattel, Inc. is an American multinational toy manufacturing company founded in 1945 with headquarters in El Segundo, California. Mattel has its presence in more than 40 countries and territories and sells products in over 150 nations across the world.
