Based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, in the United States, HALO® Innovations is dedicated to delivering safe sleep solutions for families with young babies. The company was founded in 1994 by Bill Schmid, who began researching safe sleeping environments after losing his daughter to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Since then, HALO has been creating products that set new standards for the safety of sleeping infants.
The HALO® Sleep Sack®: Wearable blankets for babies
Tricia Weinhold, Director of Marketing Communications at HALO Innovations states “we started our business journey with the HALO® Sleep Sack®, a wearable blanket that replaces loose blankets, to help eliminate the risk of suffocation and strangulation. We’ve since expanded this product range with the launch of the Sleep Sack® Swaddle, the Sleep Sack® Self-Soothing Swaddle, and the Sleep Sack® Easy Transition Swaddle. And, we offer products that go from infant up to toddler sizes which can become a part of the child’s bedtime routine.”
“The Bassinest® Swivel Sleeper by HALO® Innovations is the only bassinet that swivels 360 degrees, offering parents the ability to be close to their little one… HALO® DreamNest® is an open air sleep system that is thoughtfully designed with a breathable mesh mattress”

In addition to its well-known softline products, HALO® has also found success in hardlines as well. The Bassinest® Swivel Sleeper by HALO® Innovations is the only bassinet that swivels 360 degrees, offering parents the ability to be close to their little one, while s/he sleeps safely in his/her own separate space; this item is recommended for babies up to five months of age. “It’s revolutionary,” Weinhold comented, “because it has mesh walls for breathability and a retractable side for easy access to the baby during sleeptime.”
The new HALO® DreamNest® is an open air sleep system that is thoughtfully designed with a breathable mesh mattress; it can be used as a bassinet, a portable crib, and a cot. “The innovative 3-in-1 design,” Weinhold shared, “allows the product to be used from the early newborn stage until the toddler stage.”
Promoting safe sleep education
HALO® Innovations is centered on making safe sleep easier for young families. As such, it closely follows the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics. “We hold true to the principles of safe sleep as recommended by AAP,” Weinhold said. As part of its commitment to sharing best practices on safe sleep, the company also provides HALO® Sleep Sacks, training, and educational sessions to hospitals to help educate parents about safe sleep for infants.”
