With the ethos of promoting the ‘Vocal for Local’ movement gaining a strong momentum, the ecommerce player has marked its entry into the Kids’ furniture category.

Flipkart has marked its debut into the kid’s furniture segment and it has been said that it would source those products from the local manufacturers only, as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to push for the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ or self-reliant India. The idea of being ‘Vocal for Local’ is a great clarion call and is getting embraced by people to opt for domestically made products.
“The products are locally manufactured and therefore contribute to the growth of local manufacturing communities and also the creation of new job opportunities and means of livelihood,” as the e-commerce company announced in a statement.
The Government of India had recently identified ten sectors whereas India can drastically cut imports and instead focus on exports. These ten sectors include- capital goods and machinery, mobile and electronics, gems and jewelry, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and garments.
Within its kid’s portfolio, Flipkart will retail furniture items that includes beds, study desks, kids seating/table, and chair set and storage/wardrobes which are free of toxic chemicals, sturdy with no parts that could hurt the kids as well as durability that certified under its Perfect Homes Junior range, as the company has announced. By this diversification, the company is furthering its offerings in the online furniture industry, especially in the current times when parents are looking for dedicated spaces for their kids, as they continue staying indoors due to the lockdown.
The ‘Perfect Homes Studio’ range was introduced in February 2020 and the company said that the newly launched category is pegged to grow at 20 percent on the year, according to industry reports.
