Toys “R” Us has launched its second store for Chennai that is located at The Marina Mall, Egattur. The launch was celebrated with a gamut of fun and interesting activities, i.e. its famous ‘Geoffrey’s great toy party’ and Meet and greet with Ben 10, PJ Masks superheroes – Catboy, Owlette and Gekko, as well as other toon characters popular amongst kids.
It is the second store of the toy retailer in Chennai after the first store being introduced at Phoenix Market City, Velachery in May this year and is the eighth store in India. The new store was inaugurated by Mr. Adeeb Ahamed, Managing Director, Tablez, in the presence of dignitaries and guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Adeeb Ahamed, Managing Director, Tablez, said, “We are excited to open our second store here in Chennai. Success at our other TRU stores across India and Chennai meant it is the right moment to open at The Marina Mall, one of the city’s leading malls. We believe that children can still have good experiences with toys in physical stores and we are sure they will feel right at home with all the unique experiences that are synonymous with Toys”R”Us.”
This store at the Marina Mall spans across an area of 10,500 sq. ft and offers a wide range of toys, games and puzzles for kids in the age group of 3 to 11 as it also houses a dedicated section meant for each category of toys.
Toys “R” Us had introduced its presence in India with its first store that was started in 2017 in Bengaluru where there are three stores in operation now, namely at Phoenix Market city Mall, Vega city mall and at RMZ Galleria Mall respectively.
The company functions having its retail outlets in two distinct formats in India- Toys“R”Us and Babies “R” Us. While Toys “R” us features a wide assortment of toys, puzzles and video games, Babies“R”Us that is a one-stop destination for baby essentials. Owned by Tablez India which is a division of LuLu Group, Toys “R” Us India operates nine stores in the Indian market as of yet and is seeking to expand its presence actively.
Toys“R”Us, Inc. is an international toy, clothing, video game, and baby product retail brand which was founded in April 1948 and is headquartered in USA. From 1980s, it had started to establish its international market presence by starting its first international wholly-owned store in Canada and licensed operations in Singapore. The iconic toy retailer has more than 1870 stores globally.
