The leading global toys retailer Hamleys, which was acquired by Reliance Retail in May this year, has presence in 36 cities in the country

The leading player in toy retail segment-Hamleys has opened a new store at MGF Metropolitan Mall, Gurgaon which is a milestone for the brand as this is its 100th store in India. The brand celebrated the launch with a gala event for kids, meet and greet event with popular characters and Johnny Bravo, Ben 10, Chutki and mascot- Hamley Bear.
The toy retail giant that was recently acquired by Reliance Brands Limited, a subdivision of Reliance Industries is known worldwide for an incredibly wide range of toys.
The store is spread over 4,500 sq ft and with the launch, the total number of Hamleys stores in the Delhi-NCR amounts to 16 outlets. Hamleys had entered India in 2010 with its first store at High Street Phoenix, Mumbai and is currently the largest toy retailer in India having presence in 36 cities.
The project was headed by Geeta Tembulkar, GM, Hamleys at Reliance Brands, who conceptualised the design of the store having a stunning U-shaped facade and three levels.
“Every year for more than 3 million families a visit to one of the 100 Hamleys store in India is a reward in itself,” Darshan Mehta, chief executive of Reliance Brand said in a statement.
Presently, the Reliance-owned Hamleys has around 200 stores globally and India tops as the nation having the largest number of Hamleys stores across the world. With the tagline ‘the finest toy shop in the world’, Hamleys enjoys a massive reach around the globe.
