The popular food-delivery app Swiggy will soon start delivering baby care essential items and groceries. The company is seeking to expand its scope of business with this roll-out of ‘Swiggy Stores’ which will be accessible on its app.
The Bengaluru-based company, which is operated by Bundl Technologies Pvt. Ltd, has partnered with more than 3,500 stores in Gurgaon to deliver fruits and vegetables, grocery items, baby care products, health supplements and pet care products, Swiggy said in a statement.
In the first week of February this year, Swiggy had announced that it has acqui-hired Kint.io, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) startup to help hyperlocal discovery and on-demand delivery, for an undisclosed amount. The company had also raised USD 1 billion in series H funding round in December, led by South African internet giant Naspers Ltd while DST Global, Meituan Dianping and Coatue Management, Tencent, Hillhouse Capital and Wellington Management Company also participated in it.
Started in the year 2014 by Sriharsha Majety, Nandan Reddy, and Rahul Jaimini; Swiggy, at present, connects consumers to more than 60,000 restaurant partners across 80 cities. Within just four years of its business journey, the application has made its name as a front running hyperlocal delivery platform and a household name for online food delivery.
