The new production unit spread across 3,00,000 sq. ft. is based in Ahmedabad

Unicharm India Pvt. Ltd., one of the top-tier producers of disposable hygiene products has announced that it would add manufacturing unit in Sanand, Ahmedabad. This production unit would manufacture the brands of Unicharm- Mamy Poko, Sofy and Lifree. It is significant that it’s been a decade since Unicharm entered in the Indian market as it was in 2008 that Unicharm had established a wholly owned subsidiary.
This would be the third business unit of Unicharm in India, the other two being situated in Alwar (Rajasthan) and Chitoor (Andhra Pradesh) respectively. It is quite remarkable to consider that India has been a leading market for Unicharm in the FY2017 and the new manufacturing unit in effect, would be to cater to the rising demand of the Unicharm products.
On this event, Takahisa Takahara, Global CEO, Unicharm, said, “India is special to us and the love that we’ve seen here over the past 10 years is overwhelming. Unicharm has already joined hands with some Indian suppliers for the raw materials used in the upstream production. Having its corporate philosophy of NOLA & DOLA (Necessity of Life with Activities & Dreams of Life with Activities), the company is operating to produce baby care: ‘Mamy Poko’ and feminine care: ‘Sofy’ in India.

Unicharm was established in the year 1961 in Japan by Mr. Keiichiro Takahara. It has been a leading manufacturer in the Asian market in the category of feminine and baby care products, further, it produces household cleaning products and pet care products too. Having business operations in over 80 nations across the world, the first overseas operation for Unicharm was in Taiwan in 1984.
