Mighty Little Bheem is the second most popular original kids programme on Netflix. It is a spin-off of the hugely famous Indian animated series ‘Chhota Bheem’, i.e. it is a programme involving characters from a previous programme- Bheem and his friends based in the fictional town of Dholakpur.
In a recent interview, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said, “Mighty Little Bheem has been viewed by 27 million households outside India. Baby Bheem is going strong.”
As reported by the Hindu Business Line, Mighty Little Bheem which debuted on Netflix across 190 countries in April 2019 is based on the super powered toddler, has emerged as a successful show across the globe. Just within the first year itself of its launch on Netflix, Mighty Little Bheem earned the position of the second most popular original kids programme globally after DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby: Back in Business as well as the most watched international show in Netflix in the USA in 2019, Rajiv said in a statement.
Rajiv Chilaka, Founder and Managing Director at Green Gold Animation Pvt. Ltd. asserts “Mighty Little Bheem was always an ambitious project in terms of scale and quality. It has been doing well everywhere, especially in Brazil, Mexico, US, Nordics, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Most of these are new territories for Bheem. It is a very simple and innocent show at heart with nuances.”
Started in 2008, ‘Chhota Bheem’ is India’s most successful animation franchise with a TV show, films and merchandise, owned by Green Gold Animation. Although it is very much rooted in Indian culture, its storytelling has transcended boundaries and made the character popular in the 6-11 year age group particularly across Asia, the Middle East and Northern America.
