India is the second largest market for Marks & Spencer after UK

One of the top-notch global fashion brand-M&S is continuing to expand its market reach in India

Marks & SpencerIndia has emerged as the second largest market after the UK for Marks & Spencer, and the British retailer is looking at a double digit growth in terms of store addition in the next fiscal, said a top company official. M&S has opened one store each in Chennai and Hyderabad on Tuesday.
There is a broad range of fashionable and comfortable outfits and accessories offered at M&S for babies from age group from 0 to 3 years such as sleep suit, dresses as well as a range of outfits for boys and girls from 3 to 16 years.
In this strategic expansion, the company is now considering to strengthening its presence in the growing Tier-II & III cities and is also seeking to expand its products range. “India has now the largest market for us outside UK,” Marks & Spencer India MD James Munson told PTI. With the recent openings of its retail outlets, M&S now has 76 stores across 32 cities in the country and is growing its presence consistently and it has now opened six outlets in the last two months .
Marks & Spencer was founded about 135 years ago, in the year 1884 by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer in Leeds, United Kingdom. The fashion company has an extensive market presence worldwide. There has been a recent proliferation in the retail sector, particularly in the fashion segment- including babies and kids fashion. With the presence of a great number of international brands and homegrown brands which are continuously expanding and strengthening their reach in metropolitan and Tier-II & III cities, our country is witnessing an ongoing boom in the retail sector.
