Hamleys opens at two locations in Hyderabad

Known as the ‘the finest toy shop in the world’, Hamleys has more than 100 stores in the country. The toy retailing company has launched two of its stores in the city consecutively.

Hamleys India has started two stores in Hyderabad, one at DSL Mall in Uppal and another in GSM Mall, Madinaguda, successively. The store launch was celebrated as a mega launch event with a meet and greet event for kids to interact with their favourite characters of kids, such as Hamley & Hattie Bear and Chhota Bheem & Chutki.
Mumbai had the first Hamleys store for the entire South Asian region which was started in 2010 and it marked the beginning of the toy retailing giant’s presence in India. Since, then the company has gained a massive presence in India making the country having the largest number of Hamleys stores. There are over 100 Hamleys stores, to be precise, in the country. The retailer had 50 stores till the end of 2018 and it has now crossed its double count in the country. In May 2019, Reliance Retail, i.e. the subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited had signed a definitive agreement to get 100% shares of Hamleys Global Holdings Limited.
Hamleys, owned by Reliance Retail has presence in close to 40 cities in the country. The leading toy retailer is famous for its enormous collection of toys, games, activities, leisure, and entertainment related products for kids. Certainly the world’s oldest and largest toy store, Hamleys first started about 260 years ago when William Hamley who founded a toy shop called Noah’s Ark at No. 231 High Holborn, London in 1760. In the year 1881, it moved to its current site on Regent Street which housed all kinds of puppets, pedal cars, and miniature railway train sets. It is the largest and the flagship store of the brand which has seven floors and spans around 54,000 sq ft. The toy retail chain has 25 other outlets in the United Kingdom and also has more than 90 franchises worldwide.
