The company was established by Mr. Ravinder Kachru who established manufacturing base for toys and other baby products with its small production facilities in Delhi. The company now has multiple manufacturing units in India. Mommy & Baby Times (MBT) interacted with Mr. Sourabh Kachru, Designated Partner at Funride Toys LLP, about the brief business story of the company, the kind of products it brings and the marketing strategies espoused by the company.

MBT: Kindly take us through the business story of your brands.
Sourabh Kachru: ‘Dash Toys’ is India’s leading manufacturer of a wide range of kids Ride-Ons and a range of toys. The company was started in 1980 and has gained a wide market reach over the last four decades and has achieved good business traction. We have now established multiple manufacturing units across Delhi/NCR region and along with our physical market presence; we are also selling on Amazon, FirstCry, and Flipkart amongst other leading online market spaces. Funride Toys as a brand was established much after Dash Toys and is a sister concern of the latter which has been in the toy manufacturing business. My father has always been determined on selling the products that we manufacture under our own brand name and we still believe in marketing under our own name. The fact that we are indigenous manufacturers and suppliers, owing to that, we have been able to attain a very strong pan India reach and have a wide distribution network across the country. With our brand ‘Funbaby’, we bring in products catering to baby care sector. We have recently started with the exporting of our goods as a part our global expansion, thus, we manage multiple facets of our business, i.e. manufacturing, exports, wholesale, trading and supplying.

MBT: What are the different product categories covered by the brand?
SK: Funride & Dash Toys manufactures an exclusive range of Tricycles, Walkers, Baby Cars, Baby Products, Baby Swings, Baby Scooters and Baby Rockers. We had started out with the manufacturing of tricycles and now we have grown our range to include an array of Ride Ons like Baby Scooters and Baby Cars along with a wide range of nursery furniture. One characteristic feature of our product range is that they are all colourful and are basically designed to appeal to babies and kids. We have more than 150 products in our range and in terms of pricing; I would like to mention that the high-quality products that we offer are affordably priced.
MBT: What are the different strategies you have deployed in the physical and the online distribution?
SK: As we are the manufacturers, most of our focus is on the product making process, and it is our core principle that nearly all of our energy should be spent on manufacturing, on making and delivering high quality products to the consumers. We are keen on innovation, having a skilled R&D team and using upgraded technology. As a part of our business strategy, we have partnered with dealers and distributors for the particular regions and states. Likewise for our export business also, we have associated with one exclusive partner for one particular country. As about our online distribution, we have appointed a set of distributors for both of the brands- Funride as well as Dash Toys. We now have attained a good market reach across India with our associated dealers and distributors; also, we are also doing good business on the ecommerce platforms as well through our online channel distributors, be it on FirstCry, Amazon, Flipkart, Hopscotch, etc.

SK: The key strengths of the company, is that we are extremely quality-oriented, we focus on the quality of the work that we are doing, and have an utmost attention to detail. Since we have a longstanding experience and a great sense of craftsmanship in manufacturing, we also understand the market sensibilities and preferences of the Indian consumers.
