Disney to launch 25 mini stores within Target

Walt Disney and Target Corporation has tied up to start these retail mini stores inside select 25 Target locations in the United States and by October, 2020, there will be 40 additional mini stores at other Target locations

From October 04, there will be mini stores of Disney inside 25 select Target stores across United States in major cities such as Philadelphia, Denver and Chicago. In addition, there will be 40 new mini-stores that will be introduced within Target stores by October 2020.
Disney has affirmed in a statement that the “shop-in-shop” layout would house a wide collection of more than 450 products from the company, including more than 100 items that were earlier available only at its locations.
These Disney stores will be operated by Target, having an average area of 750 square feet located adjoining to the children’s clothing and toys section at the Target store.
“We believe the combination of Disney’s unmatched entertainment and storytelling with our omni-channel retail platform will create inspiring and unique experiences for our guests,” Brian Cornell, chairman and chief executive officer at Target, has affirmed in a statement.
The 750 square foot section will feature more than 100 Disney products including new merchandise from Frozen 2 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The ardent fans of Disney will be able to purchase Disney plush, home and holiday products that also include Marvel, Disney Junior and classic Disney characters.
“This collaboration reflects the strength of our platforms and assets to create value for guests and growth for both companies beyond the traditional retail model,” he added.
The Disney Stores are a global chain of specialty stores selling only Disney related items, out of which many of them are exclusive under its own label and Disney Outlet. Disney Store is a business unit and subdivision of ‘Disney Parks, Experiences and Products’.
In India, there are Disney stores operated with the tie-up with DLF Brands and in the banner of ‘Disney & Me’ which began its business trajectory in India in April 2018 with the launch of two introductory stores in Delhi. These stores sell exclusive Disney merchandise with a wide collection of products and accessories from three categories: Disney movies, Star Wars and the Marvel Comics. The catalog of this merchandise includes footwear, attire and accessories along with an impressive array of toys and other innovative products. The first two ‘Disney & Me’ stores were started at DLF Mall of Noida and in Ambience Mall, Gurugram, respectively. Now, there are five licensed stores of Disney in India, out of which, four stores are in Delhi alone and one is in Thane, Maharashtra.

As of May 2019, Target operates 1,851 stores throughout the United States and there are formats within which the retail stores are operated: Target, Super-Target, Small-Format Target and CVS Health.
